Psychotherapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

for adults, online and in person

Why psychotherapy?

Clients often seek therapy when they feel unhappy, sad, anxious or tense and stressed, or when they are struggling with sleep problems and control over thoughts or impulses. Life changes, such as a loss or a new beginning, are also reasons for therapy. Mental health problems can be acute or chronic - in either case, therapy can be helpful.

Your goals in therapy could be:

  • Reducing thoughts and worries,

  • Coping with an acute crisis or difficult situation,

  • Becoming more relaxed and joyful and less irritable,

  • Overcoming fears,

  • Managing stressful behaviors or emotions,

  • Dealing with interpersonal conflicts,

  • Navigating addiction.

How does individual therapy work?

Building a close therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy. It is important that we develop trust and understanding over time so that you feel truly heard and supported. Finding the right therapist is crucial. That's why I place great emphasis on authenticity, appreciation and a touch of humor in our sessions. During therapy, I will support you on your journey of change and offer you perspectives that you may not have been able to see on your own. When you verbalize your inner world, you can process your emotions and I help you make sense of them. By delving into your personal biographical background and life experiences and relating them to your current situation, I gain insight into your patterns of behavior and thinking. Using a range of therapeutic interventions, I will tailor evidence-based strategies specifically for you to help you overcome your problems and proactively bring about positive change.

Fields of treatment:

  • Depression, burn-out

  • Fears, phobias

  • Compulsions

  • Crises, grief

  • Stress, stress disorders

  • Relationship issues

  • Eating disorders

  • Procrastination, AD(H)D

  • Addiction

Reported results of psychotherapy

Although I cannot promise results, I can share my clients' experiences: Most report positive changes during and after therapy with me. They felt calmer, more composed, more confident and overall better equipped to deal with difficult emotions or behaviors. My clients often noticed an improvement in their general wellbeing and felt more self-efficacious, more in control of themselves and their lives. This has often led to better relationships with others as well as themselves and enabled them to (re)pursue their personal dreams and live a life aligned with their own values.

Process

  1. Contact us

Have you become curious? Or you have the feeling that professional support could be the right thing for your current situation? Then contact me right now. I can offer you a non-binding introductory meeting and consultation as soon as possible.

  2. Initial meeting

We use the initial consultation to get to know each other and to assess your current problem. I will be happy to give you recommendations on how to proceed and let you know whether treatment with me would be an option. If you can imagine working with me on your complaints or issues, we will arrange another appointment.

  3. Diagnostics

The aim of the next appointment is to understand your current situation in more detail. To do this, I will ask a few specific questions based on questionnaires to gain a comprehensive initial overview of your situation. We will derive initial strategies that can help you achieve positive changes and inner balance.

  4. Goal setting

In the third session, we will focus on the goals you would like to achieve with the help of therapy. These could be, for example: improving stress management, understanding yourself better and growing, becoming more relaxed, making decisions more easily, feeling more joy again, getting a grip on circling thoughts, ...

  5. Therapy sessions

Depending on the problem, we either start a short-term therapy (12-24 sessions) or meet regularly over a longer period of time to work together on your symptoms. As a rule, my clients come to my practice once a week for 50 minutes. Online sessions are also possible. I work both in German and English.

Group Therapy

Mindfulness Training

Why is group therapy worthwhile?

Being part of a group, feeling seen and belonging, is a basic need of every person. In group therapy, this need can be satisfied and a psychological recovery process can be set in motion. By sharing with others, we benefit from the realization that “I am not alone with my problem” and from the insightful knowledge of others that can help us move forward. Scientific studies have shown that group therapies are just as effective as individual therapies.

How does it work?

We start each meeting with a calming breathing exercise. Participants then share their issues or concerns in a non-judgmental space, which strengthens compassion in the group. I incorporate psychoeducation about mindfulness and its practical application into each session. At the end, we take time to practice a mindfulness exercise or meditation together.

Typical outcomes of mindfulness group therapy

In this course you will gain insight into different aspects of managing your mental wellbeing. You will learn techniques to break the cycle of ruminating thoughts or worrying. We will try out strategies for dealing with persistent negative thoughts and unpleasant emotions. The strategies will enable you to effectively manage the processes of your mind through regular practice. Through the practical methods of mindfulness, you will discover ways to significantly reduce stress, increase your well-being and cultivate serenity and inner freedom in your life.

Process

The group starts at a fixed time and then runs for 2 months. There are 8 sessions per week of 90 minutes each. As an intimate group of up to 9 people, we meet either in person in Munich or in an online-only group, virtually. The choice is yours.
